Save Beyond Costumes

Beyond Costumes is a professional costume shop located in Yonkers New York. In 20 years, its Korean born founder Yon Yuh Zweibon has elevated Beyond Costumes from a local Halloween store to a creative hub that has become the largest independent costume collection in the New York Metro area.

 

Beyond Costumes now houses over 25,000 varied costumes, accessories, vintage props and more. This comprehensive collection has grown to serve school stage productions, professional theatre, TV and film companies, and individuals. Beyond costumes has also collaborated with numerous civic and non-profit organizations to help arrange and produce various community events such as public concerts, talent shows and more.

 

Yon is passionate about making the arts accessible to everyone, and has strived to make Beyond Costumes a safe haven for people from all walks of life to find artistic inspiration. In addition, it has been preserving over 100 years of history of New York’s costuming industry, which has disappeared due to economic hardship inherent in the industry.

 

Due to the Pandemic and COVID shutdowns, Beyond Costumes’ existence is in jeopardy. After losing a significant portion of its income, housing and managing its vast stock is proving to be quite a challenge.
