For the past two years, Bernadette has been fighting stage 4 cancer while doing everything she can to care for her children. Now, her cancer has spread further, including to her lymph nodes and liver.

Bernadette has shared that doctors have told her she may have only a year left to live. But she is still holding on to hope—for more time, another treatment option, and the chance to watch her children grow up.

There's a special treatment/gene therapy that could offer her another chance. The estimated cost could range from $150,000 to $400,000, depending on her treatment plan. Her eligibility, the potential benefits, and the final costs still need to be confirmed with her medical team.

While facing this devastating illness, Bernadette is also struggling to meet her family’s most basic needs.

She can no longer work and relies on food banks multiple times a week to help feed her family. Sometimes, she doesn’t have enough money to eat. One of her children has cerebral palsy and needs additional care and support.

Now, Bernadette is facing eviction.

Just two years ago, she was living in a tent. Today, she fears that she and her son could face that same reality again within the next month or two—all while she is fighting for her life.

Our team at Miracles for Humanity has been working closely with Bernadette to understand her most urgent needs and build a plan for meaningful support.

Through this fundraiser, we hope to help with:

Stable housing: Relocation expenses and rental assistance to help prevent homelessness. Ideally rent for a few years and/or an RV so they don't have to worry about being homeless.

Medical care: Medications, essential care, and the gene therapy treatment.

Reliable transportation: A dependable vehicle that can accommodate her family’s needs and help her get to treatment.

Food and essential living expenses: Groceries, basic necessities, and emergency assistance.

Time together: If funding and her health allow, a special trip with her children to create memories beyond hospital rooms and treatment appointments.

We put together estimates with Bernadette & anticipate expenses up to $380,000 USD...

Bernadette dreams of being here to see her children grow up—and, one day, meet her grandchildren.

We cannot promise what tomorrow will bring. But together, we can help her face it with food, shelter, access to care, and a community beside her.

Please consider donating or sharing Bernadette’s story. Thank you for helping us give this mother and her children support, hope, and more moments together. ❤️

Miracles for Humanity Foundation – Campaign Disclosure

How Your Gift Helps: Miracles for Humanity Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Your generosity helps us support families like Bernadette’s while making it possible to find, reach, and assist others facing heartbreaking circumstances.

A portion of campaign donations supports the essential programmatic, fundraising, and administrative work behind these efforts. This includes identifying and vetting families in need, personally understanding their circumstances, communicating with medical providers, coordinating assistance, and documenting how charitable funds are used. It also supports the travel, transportation, logistical planning, and safety measures needed to reach underserved communities and connect with people who might otherwise go unseen.

These resources allow us to bring families’ stories to a wider community and turn that awareness into meaningful support. They also cover storytelling and content production, legal and regulatory compliance, ongoing program expenses, and reasonable compensation for the dedicated team carrying out this work. Donations are subject to applicable third-party transaction and processing fees. Featured stories, medical details, and media are shared with documented consent from the adult participant or an authorized parent, guardian, or legal representative, as applicable.

The Miracle Fund — Helping More Families, Sharing More Hope: We hope Bernadette’s story will inspire an outpouring of support that reaches beyond one family. Our Miracle Fund allows that generosity to help other children, adults, and families battling cancer, facing serious illness, or struggling through extreme hardship.

The agreed gross fundraising goal for this campaign is $380,000 USD, which includes potential assistance for Bernadette’s family, Foundation operating support, and applicable fundraising costs. This goal is a fundraising target, not a guaranteed payment to the family or a promise that every current or future expense will be covered.

Donations above this agreed $380,000 goal, after applicable fees and transaction costs attributable to those additional donations, will support the Miracle Fund. Bernadette may also be considered for limited additional support from the Miracle Fund under her assistance agreement, based on documented essential needs, Board approval, and available funding, through direct payments to approved providers.

Through the Miracle Fund, donations can help provide medical care, medications, food, housing assistance, necessary transportation, and emergency relief. They can also help develop and expand charitable programs and support the reasonable staffing, outreach, fundraising, and administrative work needed to make that assistance possible.

Fund Administration & Assistance Delivery: The Foundation retains discretion and control over the administration of donations within the charitable purposes described here, applicable law, donor restrictions, and existing grant commitments. The amount, timing, and form of assistance depend on verified needs, eligibility, and available funding. Assistance may be provided in stages through documented cash assistance, direct payments to approved providers, or goods and services.

Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law and are subject to applicable law and the fundraising platform’s refund policies. The Foundation cannot guarantee any particular medical treatment, health outcome, or assistance amount.

Thank you for helping us stand beside Bernadette and for making it possible to bring care, relief, and hope to more families who need it.
