Dear Kind Hearts,
I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for help. My beloved 10-year-old Beagle, Lucy, is facing a life-threatening condition that requires urgent medical intervention. Lucy has been diagnosed with a severe case of mitral valve disease, which has led to heart failure. Without immediate open-heart surgery, which could be 5 years life or more medication free with this procedure for my precious companion and if not she will not survive.
Lucy has been our rock, my angel, and the most best friend throughout the most challenging times of my life. As someone who does now have a wonderful girlfriend Marci, who 2 years ago brought Lucy's Morkie, sister Chloe into our lives, and she follows her big sister(LUCILLE) monkey see monkey do, around everywhere, the void of LUCY, not being there would be devastating for all. As a man though, who has no children or immediate siblings to lean on, Lucy has been my constant source of comfort and unconditional love. A man's best friend.
Over the past two years, I have battled cancer while also struggling financially due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on my limited income and resources. Through it all, Lucy has been by my side, providing me with the strength and courage to keep fighting.
Now, it is our turn to fight for her. The only hope for Lucy's survival is a specialized mitral valve open-heart surgery, which can only be performed at the University of Florida's small animal clinic. This clinic is the sole facility in the United States with the advanced expertise and equipment necessary to carry out this complex and delicate procedure. The team at UF is led by a pioneering surgeon for open heart canine repair from Japan, who has emigrated to the US, to teach American veterinary surgeons his proven techniques and make this solution available more nationwide. However, the cost of the surgery is a staggering $45,000 USD, an amount that is far beyond my current means.
I am humbly reaching out to you, compassionate and generous individuals, or groups, to ask for your support in saving Lucy's life. Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring us one step closer to affording this life-saving surgery, which is scheduled for April 23rd.-2024, ! Time is of the essence ! and I am desperate to secure the necessary funds to give my beloved Beagle mix a fighting chance.
Lucy has filled our many lives with joy, love, and purpose, and I cannot imagine facing the future without her by my side for years to come. She is not just a pet; she is a member of my family and my closest companion.
