Help Save Basil, Therapy Cat

Basil is not your average cat. Not only is she one of only around 350 Registered Animal-Assisted Therapy Team cats (there are over 10,000 dog teams in the US), she is my partner as one of only around 35 nationally accredited Animal-Assisted Crisis Response Teams that utilize a cat. We can be called to aid victims and First Responders in event of things like fire, earthquake, flood, or even domestic violence.

She is also only right years old and just diagnosed with a probable FISS, feline injection site sarcoma.

The only way to get a certain diagnosis and plan a course of treatment is to get a CT scan. If the sarcoma has not invaded any organs, tissues, or bone, she would be a candidate for treatment - which would involve surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. All of this will cost around $15,000 to $20,000. I'll adjust the goal of this campaign at that point. Right now, we need the CT scan to determine next steps.

Why do this for a cat? Because Basil has made such a difference in so many lives. Until we moved, we were an Animal-Assisted Therapy Team at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. We have also served at numerous senior facilities and so much more. This is not an ordinary cat.

Please, I'll beg of I have to, help save this cat, and allow her to continue to make the world less lonely, less scary, more happy, and with more love. We need Basil... Right now, she needs us.
