Update 06/13/25: Baldr is home and doing well. He's eating a small amount and drinking plenty of water. With this update I'll be cutting off donations as our goal has been reached. Thank you all for helping me save this precious orange boy
Update 06/12/25: with the help of your generosity, and a few grants baldr received; I can afford Baldr's surgery. He is going under later today and I will post another update when he is out of surgery. The fundraiser will remain open and additional funds will go towards any complications that may arise. From the bottom of my heart thank you all. Baldr now has a real fighting chance and it's all thanks to the donations received. I visited Baldr yesterday when he got the funds for his surgery. Here's a picture I took:
Update 06/11/25: Baldr has not improved. Right now his options are surgery ranging from $1100 to $2200, euthanasia, and surrender to animal control. This does not include the $2200 already spent on diagnostics and his hospitalization. I will be adjusting the fundraiser to reflect these new costs. Please help
Update as of 06/09/25:Baldr has been hospitalized at Pruyn veterinary clinic, this means he is getting the best care possible and recovery is more likely now than ever. We aren't out of the woods yet though.
Original posting: Baldr came into my life three years ago as a tiny kitten, and from the moment I held him, he became my whole world. He’s been my constant through every hardship, every lonely night, every quiet moment. He’s more than a pet—he’s my best friend, my emotional support, my family.
Recently, Baldr suddenly stopped eating and became frighteningly lethargic. I rushed him to the emergency vet, but I could only afford the blood work. The vet fears he may have a stomach or intestinal blockage—a life-threatening condition—but without further diagnostics and potential surgery, there’s no way to know for sure or to help him recover.
I am devastated. Watching Baldr grow weaker by the day is heartbreaking. I feel so helpless knowing that the only thing standing between him and the care he needs is money.
That’s why I’m here, humbly asking for your kindness and support. Your donation will go directly toward:
X-rays/ultrasound to identify the blockage
Surgery (if necessary) to remove it
Post-operative care and medication
Every dollar brings us closer to saving Baldr’s life. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me fight for Baldr. I just want to give him a chance to purr again, to heal, and to be the bright light in my life that he’s always been.
With deep gratitude,
Leah Scarlett Hegenbarth
