Save Baker: Relief for a Loving Family

Hi everyone! This is Baker and he is a 4 year old Great Dane and he almost lost his life on Easter. Both of his parents were hospitalized briefly this past week due to medical complications and are going through a very overwhelming time emotionally and financially because of medical issues the last few years.

Baker's neighbor was looking after Baker and his little brother Wilson for a few days until their human parents returned home and Baker started showing signs of distress. The neighbor called me, his daughter to ask me to come see what I thought could be wrong and I insisted that Baker was quickly declining. We contacted Baker's human dad and he asked us to rush him to the ER.

There we found his stomach had flipped and the vet said it could have been caused by the stress of his parents both having to leave abruptly and this was common in Danes. He had to have emergency GVD surgery!

The surgery was estimated to be thousands of dollars or we could euthanize him. We knew the stress the family was already under and just could not let their dog pass away. My husband and I put the cost of the $8,700 on credit to save Baker so they didn't have to go through that loss during their tough time and decided to try to raise funds to help relieve any further financial stress on the family.

Baker had surgery late Easter night and has been recovering wonderfully! He was reunited with his family a few days after surgery and is so happy to be home. He is a young and loving boy and deserved to be saved and he and his family are beyond grateful they he had us looking out for him but they are trying to find a to pay for the medical bill on a fixed income.
