Save Bailey, Shot in His Own Yard

Yesterday on 4/15/2025 tragedy struck our home. Yesterday my beautiful border collie Bailey was shot with a 22 caliber into his pericardium sac. Bailey was in our back yard inside our fence and a threat to no one. Bailey was barking and a neighbor shot him with what the vets called a kill shot. Bailey is currently in the animal hospital and is critical. My 13 year old daughter was only a few feet away when this happened. She was on the porch of our home while her dog was playing in the safety of our yard. What is even worse is she was home with our dogs while I was still at work. All I can think is what if that bullet hit her….. what if the hunter was not as accurate as he thought? Would he also just have let my baby lay there to die for me to find when I got home? Two weeks ago someone also shot a bullet through my elderly neighbors home, where it flew past her head while she was sleeping and landed in her hallway wall. Cleveland stated then they would increase police presence. I have cameras in the front yard and no increase has occurred….nothing has been done about my neighbors near death experience and sadly I dont believe anything will be done about my precious Bailey. The outcome will simply be my family will have one more reason to fear walking outside of our home, Bailey will never be allowed to enjoy his yard again because of this mamas fear and my daughter will no longer feel safe home without us…..

Bailey is currently at the emergency vet in critical condition. He is up walking some but continues to build fluid around his heart. They have drained the fluid with a tap and are hoping that the bleeding has stopped so they do not have to drain anymore. He also has some fluid around his lungs. Today my current invoice was right over 1,800.00 and without fluid drained off it will be 2,300 by end of the day. If the fluid is drained it will cost more. If he has to stay another night that expense will go up. I am not one to normally ask for help. I do non profit work advocating for children in my community. This is a very unexpected expense at a critical time in our economy. Any little bit would help my family to cover the cost.
