Save Baby Umar: Fighting SCID for a Chance at Life

Donation protected
5-month-old baby Umar, my first cousin, is currently fighting for his life in the NICU at Rainbow Hospital in India. Umar has been diagnosed with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) — a rare and life-threatening condition in which babies are born without a functioning immune system. Tragically, Umar’s older sibling passed away at just 4 months old from the same disease. Today, his family is facing this devastating battle once again.

Umar has been battling a severe infection for over 12 days and remains dependent on oxygen and intensive care. Because his body cannot fight infections on its own, doctors have urgently recommended a protective isolation chamber to reduce the risk of further, life-threatening infections — but this nearly doubles the cost of his care. Umar’s family has no medical insurance and very limited financial resources, making it incredibly difficult to continue treatment while also preparing for the life-saving stem cell (bone marrow) transplant he urgently needs.

Funds raised will go directly toward Umar’s hospital care, protective isolation, specialized medications, and transplant preparation. Every donation, no matter how small, helps relieve the financial burden on his family and brings Umar closer to the chance he deserves — a future. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing Umar’s story. Your support, prayers, and kindness mean everything to this family during the most difficult time of their lives.
