SAVE BABY ÁNGEL

Donation protected
THE SHORT VERSION:

Ángel Gabriel is a 16-month-old baby living in Mexico City with his parents. He was born prematurely and has spent a quarter of his short life in the hospital. Due to a previous surgery, doctors had to remove part of his intestine, leaving him with an ileostomy (an opening in the belly made during surgery to move waste out of the body) and preventing him from absorbing nutrients and properly developing. Scroll down to the read the full story, but know that this is the beginning of a long journey back to health for him.

He cannot begin to heal and will not hit any of the developmental milestones of typical kids his age until he can get this surgery. While his local doctors have done their best, the time has come to bring in a specialist to repair his intestines. His parents found a specialist based out of Colorado who agreed to come to Mexico and schedule the surgery for 10/15/22, but they need $25k to make this life-saving surgery happen, which they do not have.

(Note: the surgery was originally scheduled for 10/15 but has since been rescheduled for 10/21).

WHO'S FUNDRAISING FOR ÁNGEL:

My name is Kylie, and Ángel's parents are my cousins. I live in Southern California and want to support our family in Mexico. Ángel's parents are hardworking, good people and are doing the best they can to give their baby care. His parents need the full $25,000 by Oct. 14, 2022 otherwise the surgery will have to be delayed until they can get the full funds. The longer we wait, the longer Ángel suffers.

Since GoFundMe doesn't operate in Mexico, I've decided to make this page on their behalf. All of the funds will be sent DIRECTLY to Ángel's parents to cover their medical costs. This beautiful family has welcomed me with open arms many times over the years, and the least I can do is spread the word to help save their sweet baby boy, Ángel.

Can you please give even $1 to get Ángel this urgently needed surgery? Even the smallest donation will make a huge difference.

If you aren't in a position to donate monetarily but still want to help, please share this page with your network to get as many eyes on it as possible. Thank you for all of your support, monetary or otherwise!

THE FULL STORY / A NOTE FROM ÁNGEL'S MOM:

Hello, my name is Ángel Gabriel, due to mommy's health issues, they had to perform an emergency C-section for severe preeclampsia. I was 32 weeks premature when I was born. It was very difficult for me to breathe, so they had to intubate me for 2.5 months and stay in a neonatal intensive care unit.

Due to my premature birth, I had many health complications. Twelve days after I was born they had to perform an emergency operation: they removed part of my intestine due to necrotizing enterocolitis and had to perform an ileostomy for me to survive. My lungs are not that strong, that's why I'm still using oxygen now. They also detected pulmonary hypertension and I had a brain hemorrhage and hemorrhage in my lungs.

After 2 months of treatment and 45 blood transfusions, I was able to leave the hospital with my parents. Arriving home, I felt the warmth of a home. I was very happy, but at night I experienced an immense pain in my belly, so my mom took me back to the hospital. I had to undergo another emergency operation, this time for an umbilical hernia. Once again I was in the hospital and this time my recovery was fast. They scheduled another surgery for my ileostomy closure in December 2021 and in this intervention they had many complications in the operating room. I was in very serious condition and was admittdd to the pediatric intensive care unit where I spent another full month. In that period I fought against 3 cardiorespiratory arrests. Two of them lasted 35 minutes and the last was 15 minutes. Definitely, an angel and God were by my side giving me strength.

In January 2022 I finally left the hospital, and today I need an operation to close my ileostomy. My parents are very scared, but they are always with me and they will take care of me so that nothing bad happens to me. I need the intervention of a specialist from the United States and we need to raise 500,000 Mexican pesos ($25k USD), to be able to carry out my surgery. I appreciate that you read up to this point and I want to ask for your support to be able to make this dream come true - even if you can donate $1, I will continue fighting until the day of my operation and be together with my parents and my family again.
