Amara's Journey to Wellness

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

We are Michael and Debra Galvez. We are the parents of four children... Gabriel, Isaiah, Alexander and our most recent addition, Amara. We finally have our baby girl and unfortunately that's who this page is for as we are now in a race against time to save her. We just recently found out that she has tested positive for a rare genetic disorder called SCID (Severe Combination Immunodeficiency). Her immune system is unable to fight off any viruses, harmful bacteria or other infections. There are a few different types of SCID and it is treatable and curable, but it's not easy. The only known cure is a bone marrow transplant (stem cell transplant) which would need to be done before 3 1/2 months of age (she is currently 3 weeks) to have the best chance for success.  This could range anywhere from150,000-300,000 dollars in Medical Costs and that's why we are asking for help. We had to drop our insurance a few months ago because it became too expensive for us to maintain and have no way to pay for all of this in such a short period of time. We have applied for Medicaid and a couple of charity programs but will have to wait 30-60 days for an answer, and we need to start seeing the doctors and getting lab work done now. The initial costs could run about $10,000. I know that's a lot of money and it's a long shot, but we have to try. Any help would be amazing and no amount is too small! We are just extremely scared parents who are desperate to save their daughter and are extremely thankful to all those who can help our baby girl!
