Save Azula: Ongoing Medical Needs
Donation protected
My friend's dog Azula is having a rough go of it. The normally silly, friendly family dog was rushed to the vet around April 4th, 2025, because she was not acting herself. She was lethargic, barely able to wag her normally happy tail, was in lots of pain, and had several other issues come up all at once.
At the vet, it was discovered that Azula's platelet count had plummeted, her blood wasn't clotting, and she had a GI bleed. She received several steroid shots and was put on a medication that is helping her symptoms, if not her platelet count. This medication is most likely a temporary fix, but if it continues to help her, she will need to be on this medication for the rest of her life.
Currently, Azula has been to the vet 6+ times in the last few weeks for testing and requires almost weekly check-up appointments to maintain her current level of health. The vets would like to send Azula for more testing to try and discover the root cause of her health issues, but it is entirely dependent on the cost as testing can be expensive. Getting this testing could find the root of the problem, getting her accurate treatments.
There is currently no end in sight to the constant vet visits, and while her family will go to extremes to figure out what is wrong with their beloved family member, the vet trips and testing are causing a lot of financial stress.
We are fundraising to cover the costs of Azula's ongoing vet visits, testing, and medication.
Azula, the beloved family dog, needs your help to get the medical care she deserves.
Update August 11, 2025
Azula is not doing well still. She has now visited the Vet upwards of 20 times in the last few months and there have been no insights into what is causing her illness.
Last night Azula was again rushed to the vet when she began vomiting and had no interest in eating. It’s believed that her liver has been damaged, most likely because of the medication she’s on due to her previous issues.
The family is doing their best to support Azula’s ongoing medical needs but are at their limits financially and are facing terrible decisions that no pet parent wants to face; giving up on their best friend.
The best option Azula has at this point is to get lots of tests and imaging done but the family have no money left to do this testing. Their only hope at keeping their family member at this point is getting donations to cover the cost of testing.
