We are asking for donations to help pay for the medical treatment for a small injured dog found on the shoulder of I-20. She was so scared when first approached on this dangerous stretch of highway and I was relieved when two women pulled over to help get her in my vehicle. Once rescued it's like she knew we were there to help and she was so sweet and calm and allowed us to handle her.
"Autumn" as we have decided to call her is in the current care of a vet and the initial cost to be seen was $510.23. The vet discovered that Autumn has a spinal fracture and a dislocated hip, that would require surgery to have the head of the femur removed. He states that this would heal quite well in a dog this size as she is a smaller dog. This surgery is estimated to cost between $1,136.60 - $1,407.17. She also needs IV fluids overnight as she is dehydrated, pain medication, and antibiotics for her wounds.
We are still waiting for a foster to become available. However, for now two friends are trying to do right by this sweet soul and are paying out of pocket to cover her costs still. To save this beautiful animal we need any help we can get. If you know us you know we are honest and none of this is going in our pockets. Please help us help Autumn live a wonderful life. We are truly grateful and appreciate any help you are able to offer. She is receiving medical care at Viking Drive Veterinary Hospital (318-747-9150) if you would like to donate directly to the hospital for her treatment. Her surgery is scheduled for Friday, November 1st.
