Update: 1/1/2026:
Hi ya'll, we are currently collecting donations to help with the following:
Day-to-day:
- Trash cleanup supplies (land and waterways)
- Trash disposal
- Tree planting
- Mulch and soil improvements
Bigger Picture:
- Research & legal fees to help protect our parks from unnecessary development and privatization.
- Working with City Council and associations to help ensure all parks across the city receive the stewardship and attention they deserve.
- Environmental testing and accountability
Update: As of 8/7/23 you have officially helped halt the Zilker Vision Plan! We are continuing to monitor the situation and ensure Zilker remains the people's park.
We are currently collecting donations to fund research and legal protections for Zilker Park.
Original Post:
We are helping raise awareness around the Zilker Vision Plan, a $200M development plan for Zilker Park and Barton Springs proposing:
- A 5,000 seat amphitheater on the Great Lawn
- 3 parking garages
- Underground parking garage next to Barton Springs
- Turning Barton Springs Rd. into single-lane traffic for parallel parking
- Removing Lou Neff Rd (and the free parking along it)
- Concessions on the Great Lawn
- Further monetizing the park under a private umbrella nonprofit
The public will not get to vote on the Zilker Vision Plan. City Council will vote on our behalf. We need to spread much-needed awareness and empower Austinities to let their elected representatives know how to represent them when they vote.
Donations are used for yard signs, social media, fliers, stickers, and organizing volunteer efforts to give Austinites the voice they deserve.
