Associated Supermarket on Nostrand and Empire Blvd/Sullivan Place has been given exactly 70 days (as of Febraury 20, 2021) to vacate it premises. This location has been a supermarket for the last five decades servicing thousands of residents in the community with high qualify affordable food.
In the time of a global pandemic which has hit the Black community the hardest, it is inconceivable that this vital and essential Supermarket will be closed, due to the greed of multi-million dollar investors. It is the intention of a wealthily investment group to destroy this supermarket and in its place build yet another high rise luxury apartment.
The closing of this supermarket will create a food desert and have a serious negative impact upon the well being of our residents especially the most vulnerable population; our seniors. Creating a food desert during the COVID is criminal.
This is why we need your help and support to raise funds to challenge the removal and to save our supermarket.
