Save Lil Arum

Arum (named after the flowers he was born next to) was a gift from the universe--he was found in our backyard on April 19th, newly born, umbilical cord and all, discovered by our neighbors two big dogs who were in the process of figuring out whether or not he was their new toy. My boyfriend and I rescued the kid, and painstakingly nursed him back to health over the course of two months into a thriving ball of kitten fire that brought our entire family closer together.

Now Arum is in need of help that we are currently unable to afford. Arum requires a diagnosis for a respiratory issues that began to develop at the end of June. He was taken to the emergency room experiencing extremely labored breathing on July 16th and the doctors immediately suggested euthanasia as an alternative to the fact that we could't not afford emergency treatment. Something in my gut told me he deserved a second chance, so we took him home to make him as comfortable as we can where he feels best. He is in need of a variety of tests, to determine the cause of his symptoms, including blood tests, x-rays, and an overnight stay of monitoring that would establish a conclusive diagnoses, all of which would cost $2500-$3000 alone. Doctors tell us that it's likely not a URTI, but most likely diaphragmatic hernia or a congenital heart disease which respectively would cost $2,000-$6,000 for surgery or a life time of drug treatments depending on treat-ability. Our ability to provide this to Arum ourselves as cat parents and working students living in San Francisco is not possible, and we have done everything we can with the knowledge and resources we have access to.

We are asking for $7,500 in support to provide Arum with the diagnoses and treatment necessary to save his lil' life.
Although he is very young, and we have only known him a short while, something inside me is telling me to give my all in attempt to get him through this. I know he's still got the fire of a long life burning in his belly, and I want us to see it manifest.
