My name is George Alatsas. I am the owner of Arcadia Bar & Restaurant in Astoria, NY.
I opened Arcadia four years ago and am blessed to have had the patronage from the neighborhood and the opportunities to host numerous events for the community, including fundraisers, holiday parties and events for various businesses.
Over the past two years, to say that I’ve been tried and tested is an understatement. My establishment was broken into three times last year, causing me to lose over $5K in DJ equipment, electronics, liquor and cash. This was pre-pandemic. Then, like most restaurant and bar industry businesses in New York and around the world, I suffered the enormous loss of business due to Covid-19. I was forced to close my bar in March for three months and again in December for two months. I followed all safety protocols while trying my best to keep my business afloat and take care of my staff.
I am not a wealthy man — I have put everything I had and more into making my dream come true and was proud of and grateful for what I had accomplished. I am now humbly reaching out for financial assistance to be able to re-open next weekend.
