Hello I’m Nadine a trans feminine person from the Middle East. I’m a writer, LGBTQ+ advocate & an organizer Unfortunately, I can’t specifically declare which country I’m from for personal safety reasons, but I live in the gulf region of the Middle East.
Anti trans laws in my country keep me in surviving mode all the time because of these transphobic laws I faced police brutality And even though I have survived a hate crime and sexual assault I can not report the harassment because being here trans is illegal and also socially stigmatized.
The systematic discrimination against trans people in the MENA region keep me unemployed struggling with health care and housing because of how criminalized being trans is here I’m denied the basics human rights of a citizen in my own country
All I hope for is to be able seek asylum somewhere safer where I can presume my transitioning.
