Hi friends, family, and the random people who find a hobby in browsing the GoFundMe channels haha, it’s Alaura! I feel a little awkward doing this, but I am grateful for resources that allow me to ask for help when I need it :)
I have the absolutely amazing opportunity to study abroad this summer for my advertising major. We are going to visit ad agencies in parts of France and the UK (hopefully I can dust off my high school French—oui oui), attend some huge networking events, and, honestly, this will be my first time off the American continent… everrrrrr!!!
I have been working hard to save up for this opportunity: I took last Winter semester off to work full time, I’m working 3 jobs this semester, hosted a little Penny for a Poem fundraiser (which you can still find on my Instagram @alaura_maye), and started up my own photography business @alauralens. I appreciate all of you who have helped fund this experience up until this point through these random little side-quests. I appreciate you all so much.
Unfortunately, even with all of these savings, I am still lacking sufficient funds to attend the study abroad—well, attend debt free. I plan on taking out student loans unless I by some miracle find gold buried in the backyard of the basement apartment I’m living in. That is why I am trying to be humble and ask for your help. Any small donation makes the hugest difference. I could be cheesy and express how every dollar you donate brings me one step closer to this magical experience, but I’ll keep the cheese for when I’m in Europe (I hear it’s better there anyways).
Even with the mix of humor I’ve sprinkled in here, in all honesty, I am so grateful to be alive and well and capable of exploring different countries and cultures, as well as crafting my skills as an art director. I feel so blessed to have been able to make it this far, debt-free or not. Thank you for caring, and I am so grateful for any small or not-so-small donation you share with me. Je t’aime!
