Save AJ's Leg, Hip & Joint
Donation protected
On March 4th, 2021 I took AJ to the hospital because he had a very high fever. Prior to this, he had been going to a wound care clinic for two months to help treat some bedsores; a dangerous tertiary health effect associated with paraplegia.
Throughout 2020, AJ began to develop bedsores, and getting treatment became very challenging due to the lockdowns and restrictions. Eventually, he was put on antibiotics, which he would remain off and on for the most part of 2020.
In December, he developed a particularly dangerous bedsore for which he was again treated with yet even more antibiotics. It had been a week that he was off the IV antibiotics when a severe fever spontaneously developed.
Once we were at the hospital, an MRI was performed which revealed a diagnosis of septic arthritis. The doctor had to do two surgeries on his right femur bone and hip & joint to clean out all the infected and necrotic tissue. His surgeon said he needed to cut off some of his femur bone if he can't heal.
AJ was sent home with instructions to do all that we can to help support AJ's healing so that the doctor won't need to cut out his femur bone. He would do it to save his life if the infection persists but the long-term effects on AJ would be detrimental and would lead to a lot more potential complications.
The concern is that AJ may be developing resistance to antibiotics now. There are powerful healing therapies that can help him fight this infection but these therapies are not covered by insurance.
We have 6 weeks to help turn this around to save AJ's leg, hip, and thigh.
This is the list of therapies he needs to get:
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Insurance is covering part of it.
UV IV with and Ozone
High Doses of IV Vitamins
PEMF Therapy
