Save Ahmed and Maya: Children with Cerebral Palsy in Gaza

My name is Cricket Packard and I have organized this fundraiser on behalf of my personal friend, Khalil Al-Dahouk.

Khalil writes to me every day from his half-destroyed home in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. It is designated as a high risk area but with their 5 kids, 2 of whom are quadriplegic, there is no choice but to stay and try to survive.

His son and daughter with cerebral palsy require extensive medical management. They need medication, diapers, nutritional supplements, and continuous therapy -- all of which are now either very expensive or not available.

I am not sure how their health is managed in the absence of treatments, but I know they suffer frequent seizures in painful silence. This is preventable. So too are other complications to which they are prone, like Ahmed's pressure ulcer and Maya's bladder stones. Their weight has declined significantly since Oct 7, to a frightening state.

It is a difficult existence no one can survive for long. Plea after plea for help brings no response. Is there any consequence in the universe for their lives that have been stolen from them? What is their fault?

Please bring some hope to this tired father, who despairs of seeing his children in pain and need.

Khalil's statement:

Hello, my name is Khalil Al-Dahouk from Gaza, Palestine, Gaza Strip. I am married and have 5 children.

I have two children with complete cerebral palsy who suffer from lack of treatment, lack of food, lack of nutrition, lack of water that is not suitable for drinking, and malnutrition.

Their names are Ahmed (age 9) and Maya (age 11). Their health is clearly very poor because of the war on the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation.

I appeal and ask our brothers in the good people in the Arab, Islamic, foreign and European world to help Ahmed and Maya and stand with them with honor, reverence and respect for these sick children whose health has deteriorated because of the siege on Gaza and Palestine due to lack of treatment and food.

Our situation in Gaza, O good people, O our brothers in the good people, O everyone who is watching this appeal in the Arab and Islamic world, is very difficult, and I ask you to stand with me and with my sick children and my honorable family.

Our house was bombed by the Israeli occupation and we innocent families were targeted in the war on the Gaza Strip. The family members and the sick children Ahmed and Maya were injured and our house was damaged.

I swear to you. By God Almighty, please stand with me and help me with the sick children. What is the sin of these children that this should happen to them?

Ahmed and Maya have not received treatment, good food, or clean water for more than seven months. They have not received treatment, good food, or clean water. They have malnutrition and their health is extremely poor.

They have no treatment in the hospitals in Gaza, and the hospitals in Gaza are extremely destroyed. Ahmed needs a brain scan, which is not available in the hospitals. Ahmed is struggling and we were not able to provide him with his treatment due to lack of money.

The financial situation in Gaza is very difficult. I hope to God Almighty that you help me and stand with me. Your brother Abu Ahmed.
