Save Adrian: A Micro-Preemie Miracle

After an emergency room visit, ambulance transfer, and 6 days of labor, our daughter and son-in-law welcomed their sweet baby boy, Adrian, into this world. He was born at 25 weeks and 4 days: 3 months before his due date. He is considered a micro preemie, a term reserved for babies born less than 1 pound 12 ounces or before 26 weeks gestation.

Two days later, Madelynn and Nick had to do what no parent wants to imagine: leave the hospital without their baby.

Due to baby Adrian’s critical condition, he was admitted into the highest level neonatal intensive care unit, which is located over an hour from Madelynn and Nick’s home. They travel to and from the hospital every day, which is, at minimum, a two hour commute.

The weeks since he was born he has faced numerous challenges, including multiple blood transfusions, breathing treatments, and is currently fighting for his life to overcome pneumonia and a lung collapse.

The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help ease the financial burden on Adrian’s parents so they can focus on bringing him home when he is strong enough.  Even with Nick working hard to keep his family medically insured, the expenses are already overwhelming.

They face significantly higher expenses than those generally associated with having a baby. There will be substantial medical bills, various medication costs, unique preemie formula, medical equipment such as heart rate/oxygen monitoring devices, and occupational and physical therapy equipment. He will also have specialist appointments that are hours from home, not to mention the cost of transportation to and from the hospital to see their little boy.
