Help Save Adam’s Home: A Neurodivergent Child Deserves Stability.
Hi, my name is Gracie Gato. I’m a single mother, writer, and caregiver to my beautiful 9-year-old son, Adam. Adam is autistic and nonverbal, and his world is built on structure, stability, and safety. Right now, the only home he’s ever known is at risk of being lost to foreclosure—and I’m doing everything I can to protect it.
I’m not someone who asks for help easily. But I’ve reached the end of what I can do alone.
Over the last year, I’ve endured incredible loss—my fiancé passed away unexpectedly, and shortly after, my mother (whom I was caring for full-time) also passed. Through all of this, I’ve been holding my son’s world together with love, hope, and willpower.
Adam’s father—who co-owns the home—has refused to help prevent the foreclosure. (More on that here: Some backstory here for context
I’ve tried working with the mortgage company, submitted hardship letters, and pursued every option available. But the financial gap is still there, and the foreclosure process is moving forward.
Now, I’m asking for help not just for me—but for Adam.
This is more than a house. It’s Adam’s safe space. His sensory environment. His entire world. Children like Adam don’t just “move on.” Transitions like this are traumatic, especially when they’re sudden and chaotic.
What We’re Raising Funds For:
To stop or delay the foreclosure process and preserve Adam’s home
To retain equity from the home so I can afford a safe rental for us
To rebuild our lives with a modest cushion—while I continue working on Adam’s World, a children’s television series based on Adam’s life and neurodivergent kids like him
Why It Matters:
I’m trying to keep my child’s world from collapsing.
I’m trying to rebuild from grief with dignity.
And I’m trying to turn our story into something beautiful for other children like Adam.
Your support will give us a foundation. A way forward. A chance to breathe.
Please help us stay housed, stay whole, and stay hopeful.
With gratitude and love,
Gracie & Adam
