Save Abbots Leigh Meadow From Roots Allotments
Donation protected
The meadow in Abbots Leigh remains under threat from venture capital backed Roots Allotments who have finally been made to apply for retrospective planning permission by North Somerset Council, having developed the site during sky lark breeding season, without permission.
Up to this point Roots Allotments have ignored calls to apply for planning from Locals, Forestry England, Natural England, numerous widlife organisations and celebrities such as Chris Packham and Deborah Meaden.
A once beautiful, open part of the greenbelt, flourishing in spring and summer as a flower meadow and host to numerous protected species, is now a sea of plastic, a large carpark and hardcore track, CCTV, structures (including a cargo unit) and a hazardous new entrance, created by removing established hedgerow on a grade II listed boundary, close to the very busy and dangerous A369.
We are raising further funds to strengthen our legal advice in hope the retrospective applications submitted by Roots are refused.
We are a small, passionate village fighting a venture capital backed business, who have spent the last 2 years spreading lies and rubbishing the ecological impact their out of city scheme is having on the area.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference.
Thank you for your support!
