Save a struggling couple from becoming homeless again
Donation protected
I'm raising funds for my friends Mike and Trina, who are in danger of becoming homeless again if they can't pay their rent soon.
I met Mike about a year ago in a providential way. We had a flat tire in the Wal-Mart parking lot on one of the coldest days of the year. Mike came by and generously offered to help us change our tire. As he did, I talked with him and learned that he and his wife Trina were homeless, living out of their old car that barely ran. Mike had been washing people's windows in the parking lot for a little extra cash when he saw us struggling and came to help. The common stereotype of homeless people being lazy does not at all apply to Mike; whenever I've seen him, he's been working hard to try to earn some cash to make ends meet.
Over the past year, we've helped Mike and Trina when we can--giving them money, food, and rides when we're able. But we can only do so much--especially as we've just had a newborn and some extra medical bills.
Eventually, around last summer, Mike and Trina both got jobs and were able to get approved for an apartment! We were very happy for them and hoped this would be a big step in the right direction.
But it's very hard to climb out of poverty, and the temp jobs they'd gotten didn't last forever. Now, they're out of work again and behind on rent. They've also had some medical issues and hospitalizations in recent months, which haven't helped their financial situation. If they can't come up with enough money fast, they'll be evicted and be out of the streets again. They've also sold their car for extra cash, so they'd really have nowhere to sleep and live if this happens.
Please consider giving what you can--and SOON--so this couple doesn't stay trapped in the cycle of poverty and homelessness!
