Save a natural paradise in Cahuita, Costa Rica

Hello dear friends of nature- and animal protection,
we are Iris, Marc and Jonas Willecke from Germany. Two years ago we fall in love with the nature of the south Caribbean side of Costa Rica. We found accommodation in the beautiful village Cahuita.
Last year we found out, that a property with approx. 30.000m² is to be sold for the construction of residential houses and tourist accommodations. As this is one of the most untouched properties directly next to the Cahuita National Park it is of very great value for the native flora and fauna.
Now our goal is to protect this property from further deforestation and development. It should be preserved permanently to maintain and strengthen its natural state. It will be achieved by following the 10 golden rules for planting as described by the World Economic Forum.
At present, the property is very sparsely cultivated with bananas and coconut palms. The area is cleaned and harvested about once a year. A large part of the cult plants grows under a secondary forest with native trees which must be protected.
In addition to the unique direct location at the national park, the so far low utilization by humans makes the property so interesting for the local flora and fauna. It is used by many animals (monkeys, sloths, taruntulas, birds, caimans, basilisks, …) as a place to stay and retreat, as a passageway and for foraging. The property is a habitat of countless animals, plants and trees.
Before houses and accommodations will be built we want to buy the property from the current owner and protect it for the native flora and fauna.
Therefore we started to found the non profit organization „RenatuRica gemeinnützige UG (haftungsbeschränkt)“ in Germany. This process is in progress still. We are waiting for the recognition of the non-profit status. If that is in place we will act as managing directors for that organization and every action will be taken under the rules of this non-profit organization.
As the amount for the property is more than we can afford, we are asking you for help. We start with a base funding of approx. USD 24,000 (20,000 EUR) from our private assets.
This and all further money will be used to buy a first section or the complete property via the non-profit company. If the property is owned, we will begin to remove the cultivated plants such as bananas and coconut palms and begin reforestation of native trees. This will be done with consultation and cooperation with local organizations such as “La Asociación Corredor Biológico Talamanca Caribe” and the “Fondo Nacional de Financiamiento Forestal (FONAFIFO)” and under consideration of the 10 golden rules for planting as described above.
With your help, the local flora and fauna (like monkeys, sloths, spiders, birds, caimans, basilisks and thousand others) will permanently benefit from a larger area with natural development and more biodiversity. They keep it as a place to stay and retreat, as a passageway and for foraging.

A natural relaxing soundscape with different moods from early morning when the wildlife wakes up, through noon, evening and into the night. The download link will be available up from August 2021.
