Save a local school from closing down
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Adriana, and I'm currently volunteering at SAVE Foundation.
We have seven schools, five of which are located in DuNoon, a township in Cape Town, South Africa.
At our schools, children aged 0–6 are given a chance at a childhood away from the violence and crime that occur on the streets every single day.
They spend the entire day surrounded by teachers and volunteers who care for them. They receive cooked meals and spend their time learning, playing, dancing, and singing.
Our schools are a safe space for these young children. Without them, they would be forced to wander around the township. Life for families in townships is hard. Parents often can't afford food for their children, let alone pay school fees. Alcohol and substance abuse are extremely common, as is gang-related crime.
Right now, one of our schools, Harare, is at risk of being closed.
The principal, Esteline, who has been running the school for almost 10 years, is unable to pay off the house where she not only lives but also operates the school.
If she isn’t able to pay it off soon, she will lose her home — and 50 children will lose their safe space.
Even the thought of this happening makes me and everyone at the SAVE Foundation anxious.
As volunteers, we can only do so much.
This is why we’re asking you to please share this GoFundMe page and donate if you can. Every contribution counts and is deeply appreciated.
Let’s help keep this school open and ensure these kids can continue to enjoy a carefree, happy childhood.
Thank you.
