Save a caring angel from losing her home
Donation protected
This GOFUNDME is for my dear cousin, Deborah, who has spent the last two decades caring for her brother, who was left quadriplegic at 28 years old from a tragic car accident on November 8, 2001. The man who hit her brother filed for bankruptcy immediately, and he was awarded only $20,000 at the time. She spent that Christmas Eve, her favorite holiday, praying by his bedside that he would emerge from the coma he was in. Her Christmas wish was granted. In January of 2001, her mother died of cancer. In 2003, Deborah rented the house she is in today to care for both her father and brother while holding down a full-time job. In December of 2012, her beloved father passed away from a stroke, and her brother’s health began to decline considerably. Christmases those years were spent not in joyful celebration but rather watching her loved ones suffer and leave her. By 2012, Deborah had no choice but to leave her job, and by 2014 she had to set up a virtual hospital room in her home to care for him in a more extreme way. She had to learn caregiving skills usually reserved for the most educated nurses and physicians. It was trip after trip back and forth to hospitals by ambulance for him to get even the most basic treatment for the myriad illnesses he endured. It meant no sleep for her days on end to meet the round-the-clock care he needed other than for the help of night nurses. It was a heart-wrenching and herculean effort on her part. Deborah did this until her brother passed away in March of 2020 from another bout with pneumonia.
Since her brother passed away, Deborah has been diagnosed with Celiac disease, Hashimoto disease and sundry other ailments, which has made her return to work at this time impossible. She soon stands to lose the only home she has, as she cannot pay her rent and living expenses any longer, as all government assistance has ended. Deborah is the most amazing, selfless, caring, and strong person I have ever met. Her dedication to caring for her family has been astounding. Deborah has put her life on hold completely for the past 21 years and now has to start all over again and find employment after so many years out of the workforce. Please find it in your hearts to grant my cousin another Christmas miracle and help her remain in her home until she is well enough to return to work by donating to this fundraiser. We thank you so much for reading and for donating.
