Save Amjad from Syria

My name is Elhanan Miller, and I am a Jerusalem-based journalist and researcher.
Amjad is a Syrian refugee and anti-Assad dissident in need. I met him in a group of Syrian oppositionists four years ago in Amman, where I traveled with a number of Israelis involved in aid work, as the Syrian crisis unfolded. I have been in touch with Amjad ever since through Whatsapp.
Due to his political activities, last week Amjad had to flee his village in southern Syria to Idlib, the last rebel-held region in the north. After his car and beehives were confiscated by the regime, he is now seeking refuge in Turkey for himself and 6 family members. Amjad and his family are currently living in tents, in extremely dire conditions, facing the immediate danger of arrest and worse. The funds collected are meant to help Amjad start a new life in Turkey, where he has a number of relatives. They will be wired directly to his cousin in Istanbul, who will hold them in trust for him until he arrives from northern Syria.
Amjad has spoken out publicly about his wish for peace with Israel, and about the crimes of the Assad regime. Here you can find the story of our friendship: an Israeli journalist and a Syrian teacher living just across the border.
