We are currently caring for 10 cats who came into our care in extremely poor health, including six kittens and four adult cats. All arrived with severe upper respiratory infections, heavy parasite loads, and no prior veterinary care. Several of the kittens are too weak to eat on their own and require syringe feeding, supplemental nutrition, and close monitoring.

Since arriving, one of the adult females — who was already ill — gave birth to five kittens. She and her newborns are being closely monitored while she continues treatment for her respiratory infection. Providing care for a nursing mother while managing illness requires additional veterinary oversight, supplies, and ongoing support to keep both mom and kittens stable.

One of the kittens required emergency tail amputation due to an old, severe injury that could not be saved. Despite being critically ill at the time, this kitten made it through surgery and is now recovering with pain medication and supportive care.

So far, we have already spent $2,400 on emergency veterinary treatment, including surgery, medications, and diagnostics. Ongoing and upcoming needs include:

• Continued treatment for upper respiratory infections

• Deworming and parasite control

• Veterinary monitoring for the nursing mother and newborn kittens

• Vaccinations when medically appropriate

• Spay/neuter procedures once the cats are stable

• Follow-up veterinary visits and medications

• Specialized nutrition and medical supplies
