Savanna’s Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
On January 6th, Conor and Savanna celebrated the news that they would be having their first child. However, by February 4th, their excitement turned to grief at the news that their gummy bear sized baby didn’t have a heartbeat. On February 8th, the couple learned that they were 1 out of 1,000 to suffer from a precancerous molar pregnancy - a rare complication characterized by the abnormal growth of trophoblasts, the cells that normally develop into the placenta. Due to the danger of a molar pregnancy, Savanna underwent an emergency dilation & curettage (D&C) procedure on February 11th.

Unfortunately, on March 25th, the couple received the news that the D&C was unsuccessful and the molar pregnancy had progressed into a Stage I cancer. The couple was told they could attempt another D&C or opt to start chemotherapy immediately - they chose the latter.

Despite Conor’s medical insurance through his job as a Deputy Sheriff at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, the couple has incurred substantial debt through surgeries, ER visits, prescription medications, and copays. The financial burden was compounded when Savanna had to quit her job at a local daycare in order to accommodate the chemotherapy treatment schedule, leaving the couple with only a single income to cover the medical costs on top of the financial stressors of the average newlywed couple.

Reluctantly, the couple has realized that they can’t continue this fight without the additional support from those closest to them as well as the potential random kindness of those they may never meet.

Conor and Savanna are hoping to reach a goal of $5,000 to help offset the burden of delinquent medical bills and the bills still yet to come as they move forward with the chemotherapy and attempt to regain some normalcy.

The couple wants to thank everybody in advance for their support - whether it’s by donating directly or sharing the fundraiser with others - as any bit helps.
