We are the Stanny’s, and first of all we just want to say thank you so much for all of the love, support, and kindness we’ve already received — it truly means the world to us ❤️

Our beautiful girl Savannah turns 5 on the 13th of April, so she’s not even 5 yet, bless her. A few weeks ago, we noticed lumps appearing all over her body, which turned out to be swollen lymph nodes. After being referred to the Liverpool University Teaching Hospital, we received the heartbreaking news in February that Savannah has stage 4 lymphoma.

Although lymphoma is not curable, we were given hope that if she completes the full 25 weeks of chemotherapy (she is currently on week 8), she has a good chance of having another 9–18 months with us, and in the best-case scenario, up to 2 years ❤️

She has been so brave throughout everything.

Sadly, during her chemotherapy treatment, Savannah has now developed symptoms of pyometra, which is a serious infection of the uterus. This has happened because she was not yet spayed. We had every intention of having her spayed this year after her season in February, but her oncologist advised us to wait until after chemotherapy.

Unfortunately, this has now become an emergency, and she is due to undergo urgent surgery tomorrow. The cost of the operation is expected to be over £1,500.

If all goes well, we are hoping she will be able to continue with her chemotherapy next week.

This has honestly been one of the hardest times our family has ever had to face. Watching our little girl go through so much at such a young age has been absolutely heartbreaking.

We are sharing Savannah’s story not only to ask for help with the emergency surgery costs, but also to spread awareness — please always check your dogs for unusual lumps and swollen glands, and make sure to spay your bitches at the right time where possible

Just to make it clear, Savannah’s lymphoma has absolutely no relation to not being spayed — this has simply happened at the worst possible time, and we have been hit with two devastating things at once.
