Savannah's Journey to Recovery from Leukemia

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Dyan. My 14 year old daughter Savannah was not feeling well for a week or two. I took her to the emergency room. We were transferred to CHOP. We went home with the diagnosis of viral hepatitis and it had to pass. With follow ups the next week. 1 week later we went for bloodwork to see how the liver was doing. I got the call, I never wanted on Friday at 5pm while I was at work. That Savannah had cancer and to get back to CHOP within the next few hours. She had several procedures to verify what they were thinking. It is B-ALL Which is B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her journey to recovery is going to be about two and a half years. I will not be able to work full-time as I will need to care for her. There are things she will be needing in the upcoming months. A wig is one of those, being a teenager obsessed with her hair and make up. This is a hard pill to swallow for her. I am going to get her the best, to make her feel as normal as she can. I have raised Savannah as a single mom, with the help of my family. This young lady is a honor student, member of the honor society. She loves to hang out with all her friends and play volleyball. I just want to try to make the journey as comfortable as possible.
She will be doing outpatient chemo 1 to 2 times a week, sometimes more. With expected hospital stays during the journey. We will fight this and get her better!!

Update 3/1, We are home. Such a relief to be out of the hospital. We go on Monday for her first outpatient chemo visit. It just the beginning, we have so far to go. Its scary to think of the next 2 and a half years.
