On May 23, I will commence my journey to Spain where I will be walking the Camino de Santiago. There are various places to start and routes to take. My own camino will begin in St. Jean Pied de Port (outside the border of Spain in France) and end in Santiago de Compostela....a total of 470 miles and about 32 days of walking.
People have walked the camino for a variety of reasons (religious, spiritual, adventure, health, culture, etc) for over 1,000 years. My desire for venturing on the camino is for personal and religious growth and discernment for the next step in my career and life's journey.
My hope is to raise funds of $3,500 to support basic needs along the way (food and shelter). I thank you much in advance for any donation, big or small. But most of all, any prayers for a safe journey and protection along the camino for my friends and I would be greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in learning more about the Camino, you can view the movie "The Way," with Martin Sheen. Although my pilgrimage is for a different reason, I will be taking this same route. The character's portrayed journey is beautiful, deeply personal and healing. While my journey will be different, my hope is that it is no less profound.
