Savannah Needs Help After Losing Everything
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Savannah, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this.
Our entire lower level is underwater our furniture, appliances, keepsakes, everything is gone. The flood came in the middle of the night, and by morning, water was rushing through every corner of our home. It didn’t just touch the floor it swallowed the rooms whole. The water is nearly to the ceiling.
This wasn’t a little water damage. This is destruction. Electrical outlets are submerged. Our panel box and AC unit are ruined. The water is inside the walls now, which means the mold is already forming. The home we built memories in is no longer safe to step into let alone live in.
We don’t have flood insurance. When I bought this home, I wasn’t told it was in a FEMA flood zone, so it wasn’t required. And now that I know, the quote I received was $1,800 a month completely out of reach. That means there’s no help coming unless it comes from people like you.
Right now, my family is staying in a hotel but that ends soon. We have nowhere else to go, and we’re just trying to stay safe and keep breathing while everything around us feels like it’s collapsing. I’m not asking for help because I want to. I’m asking because I have to for my family, for a way forward.
Your donation will help us afford temporary housing, basic living essentials, and hopefully, one day, a chance to rebuild. But today? Today we just need to get through.
If you can’t donate, please share this. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of impact a stranger’s kindness can have this is it.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. For reading. For caring. For giving us hope.
