Our family is living through a pain we never imagined we would have to face.
Our beautiful 12 year old baby sister Savannah has tragically ended her life.
She was our baby sister. Her Mum and Dad’s baby girl. A daughter, a sister, a friend, and a little girl who had her whole entire life ahead of her.
The day we lost her was, without a doubt, the worst day of our lives. There are simply no words for the pain of knowing she won’t get to grow up, experience all the things she should have experienced, or become the young woman she was meant to be.
What makes this even harder to comprehend is that there are concerns that bullying may have played a part in what our beautiful girl was going through. The circumstances surrounding her death, including the bullying she has experienced, are still being investigated, and as a family we are trying to understand how a 12 year old little girl could ever reach a point where she felt there was no other way.
No child should ever feel so hurt, alone or overwhelmed because of the actions or words of others. Bullying is not “just kids being kids.” Words and actions can have consequences that families are left carrying for the rest of their lives.
Right now, while trying to process the unimaginable, we also need to bring our beautiful girl home.
She is currently in Gladstone where she has lived for 3 years, around 8 hours away from her hometown, and our family is raising funds to help with the costs of bringing her home and giving her the farewell she deserves, surrounded by the people and community who loved her.
No parent should ever have to bury their child. No brother or sisters should ever have to say goodbye to their baby sister at just 12 years old.
Her Mum and Dad have lost their baby girl. We have lost our baby sister. A piece of our family is gone, and nothing will ever make that okay.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean more to our family than we could ever put into words. Every donation will help Mum and Dad with the costs of bringing their baby girl home and laying her to rest.
If you aren’t in a position to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every share helps.
We would give absolutely anything to change what happened. She was only 12. She had dreams still to dream, memories still to make, birthdays still to celebrate and her whole life ahead of her.
We will carry her with us for the rest of ours.
We love you forever, baby girl
You deserved so many more years
