Savannah Edwards

On Friday, March 5th 2021, Savannah's life turned upside down when she fell to the floor at work and had a lengthy seizure. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance where multiple tests and MRI were completed. She found out that the reason why she had her seizure was that she had a large mass in her brain on the left thalamus. Because of the location of the tumor it is too risky to biopsy and a special MRI was performed to determine the chemical make up of the mass. The result of the MRI found that it was cancerous. She then had a biopsy done to determine what kind of cancer she has. The results of the biopsy show that she has a grade four glioblastoma (the worst possible type of brain cancer) with a rare and dangerous mutation. Savannah began her radiation treatments at Mayo Clinic in MN on Monday March 29th. Completion of those treatments didn't slow the tumor down. On Saturday, June 12, Savannah was taken to the ER due to excessive vomiting and headaches. It was then that we found out that her tumor had not only doubled in size, causing compression on the brain, but that the cancer had also spread into her spinal fluid. The cancer didn't stop there and made uncountable little nests along the entire protective covering on Savannah's brain. Treatment options at this time are slim to none, leaving us with the prognosis of Savannah's life being limited to days to weeks. Savannah is now home and focussing on being comfortable at this time.
