Savanna's Prosthetic Foot and Bone Reconstruction

Donation protected
For those of you who do not know, my younger sister, Savanna Rhodes, was in a terrible accident on Monday morning, June 8th. While walking along the train tracks in Martinez, she was struck by a train. Thankfully, she survived this horrible accident, but unfortunately her foot was completely crushed.

After being transported to the John Muir Trauma Center in Walnut Creek, our family was informed that she had lost three of her toes in the accident. Later, the surgeons reported that Savanna would need a total of six surgeries over the next two weeks in order to remove the two remaining toes and reconstruct her foot as much as possible. She will then proceed to the next stage of rehabilitation to learn how to work with a prosthetic foot. The surgeons predict it will take close to a year of physical therapy to learn how to fully walk again.

Savanna is a twenty-two year old, enthusiastic and social young woman, who works for a real estate marketing company in Concord, Ca. The reason for this GoFundMe account is because after she completes her surgeries and moves toward rehabilitation, she is going to need to start her journey to get a prosthetic foot, and we want her to receive the best that she can get. She is lucky to have insurance, but she will still have a huge amount of out-of-pocket expenses.

Due to the recent health restrictions in regards to COVID-19, Savanna is not allowed to have any visitors beside one parent an hour before and after each major surgery. Because of this, I know she is really scared and feels very alone, so reaching out to her and letting her know you are thinking about her would mean the world to her.

We know Savanna has a lot of friends and family that love her and are worried for her. For those of you who want to follow her progress, we will be posting updates on this page, and she will personally be updating on her snapchat and Instagram, every once in awhile.

If you cannot donate, sharing the link and reaching out to Savanna is just as helpful. She is being extremely brave through this traumatic life changing moment and although she is being so strong, she still needs all the support she can get.

We want to give a huge thank you to the conductor who picked her up and got her to the nearest train station, the paramedics who safely got her to the hospital, and the incredible surgeons who have been working tirelessly to save her leg. It is a miracle that Savanna survived this and is here with us today.

Thank you everyone.
