It is with a heavy heart to share that our beautiful Savannah McCree passed away on Christmas night. After 19 brave years of battling Congenital Heart Disease, Savannah is no longer in pain. After her most recent long stint in the hospital, she was finally home just in time for Christmas, just how she wanted to be. She was surrounded by her family and so much love when she passed. Her passing was sudden and has left her family and friends utterly broken.
Those of you who knew Sav will remember her as a Warrior Princess. The beautiful young girl who fought every day for her life. She touched us all deeply and we will forever remember the beautiful, brave young girl who lit up every room she walked in to. She brought big smiles to everyone she met. She was an angel. A teacher. And was sent here to touch and teach us all how to love, how to be compassionate, understanding, and how to stay strong and positive always. A true warrior of love, strength and beauty. She loved to help and do good by all of her tribe.
Born with Single Ventricle Dextracardia, Savannah’s heart was on the right side of her chest. She had one ventricle and breathed at 50% capacity with saturation levels of O2 at 60%. You and I are at 100%. If you or I dropped to 60% it would probably be fatal.
Savannah fought her entire life. She shouldn’t have survived birth, her 5th birthday and any of her countless surgeries, but she did. She may have only been 19 when she physically left us, but she was way beyond her years. So much so, that only after her passing we all learned that over a year ago Savannah organized and signed all paperwork to donate her organs to anyone in need. We have learned that her selfless gesture has now saved over 60 people’s lives.
Today I am asking our community to rise up and help support the McCree family in their time of need. Savannah deserves the kind of send-off that would make her smile. And we want to give that to her. A memorial date has not been set as of yet, but we will be sure to let you know once it has. All funds will go towards Savannah’s funeral costs and to support the family during this difficult time of grief and transition.
Savannah is survived by her dad John, mom Heidi, brothers Max, Gavin and baby sister Veronica. And countless Aunties, Uncles, Friends and family.
