On Saturday Morning, March 28, 2020, Shanon Saulsbury and her daughter, Kelsi suffered an unthinkable tragedy as they woke to devastation of their home engulfed in flames. Kelsi woke up that morning to discovered the house on fire, and immediately notified her mother. Thankfully, they were able to escape unharmed. It appears that squirrels were in the attic and chewed the electrical wires igniting an electrical fire that spread quickly throughout the home. The Saulsburys lost all of their earthly possessions.
Shanon is a single parent and a math teacher for Baltimore County Public School System. This tragedy will greatly impact her financially as she prepares to find temporary housing, clothing and basic living needs for her and her daughter while maintaining support for Kelsi, an honor roll student in Baltimore County. In the midst of this tragedy, Shanon is still ensuring her students are educated and plans to assist them with online schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shanon and Kelsi will be out of the home for at least twelve months, their goal is to obtain temporary housing in an apartment until their home is rebuilt. Shanon's insurance will only cover the house. She will have to maintain her current mortgage and other living expenses.
Shanon, Kelsi and I greatly appreciated everyone’s outpouring of love and support. We are reaching out to family, friends and the community to help with the financial obligations they will incur while recovering and healing from this tragedy. If you can make any donation, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Mia Tripp
