Saul's Funeral Funds
This campaign is for Saul Alvarez' funeral costs. Any remaining money will serve for his parent's medical and general expenses as they look to get back on their feet after a lifetime focused 110% on Saul's health. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Saul, my brother-in-law, received his Angel wings this past February 8, 2017 after battling a rare and debilitating Leukodystrophy by the name of Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease. As it turns out, God came for Saul the same day my son, Leonardo (who shares his uncle's rare disease) was celebrating his 4th birthday.
Saul was a warrior all his life. For 40 years him and his family believed he was born with Cerebral Palsy. It was not until Leonardo was born and showed simliar symptoms as his uncle, that we dug in and realized they were both battling a deadly genetic disorder. A few months before his departure, Saul asked why Leonardo could not walk. His mother explained that Leo had the same disease as him. Saul was saddened by the news and thought Leo would suffer too much. After a deep breath, Saul exclaimed, "I will give my life for Leo!" This sentence exemplifies my brother-in-law. The testament of an Angel, a warrior on Earth. He was willing to give his life for someone else, and forge purpose for his own pain.
Saul is survived by both his parents, his sister, and a slew of nephews, uncles, and cousins that love him. Saul will always be remembered as the boy with the huge smile. No matter the pain, no matter the pokes, and the catherizations, and the surgeries, and the infections, and the non-stop seizures, when physically abled, he would always give you his smile.
