Hello friends and family,
Satya’s father, Avrille’s partner, Pete Chav, died suddenly last Sunday after a long struggle with addiction. Pete had been working hard to become, and remain sober, and he, Avrille and Satya had spent the last two months in Brooklyn as a happy young family. They were hopeful; Pete was working a job he liked a lot, and he was a gentle and adoring father to Satya. The night he died was the first night he and Avrille and Satya had spent apart since he left rehab. Addiction is such a terrible disease, and Pete would never have wanted this result. But here we are.
A lot of you have reached out to me to ask what you can do to help. Satya (8 months old now) is Avrille’s total focus. We are setting up this fund to help with expenses related to Satya’s care — this could be anything from child care to schooling, from summer camps to college, or perhaps a move to a new place to live.
Anyone who has been lucky enough to spend time with Avrille and Satya knows that any donations she receives will be used very carefully and thoughtfully for both immediate needs and future care. I think all of us just want to help make their lives a little easier, and show our support and love.
