June 3, 2018 we lost a very dear person to our heart, Satnarine Thackurdeen, aka Sat, aka Bato.

On May 4th, Sat went to the hospital on the recommendation of his doctor because of a  persistent cough. Later that day he received the devastating news of lung cancer.   Radiation treatment was immediately started.  The following week he was scheduled for a biopsy and a couple of days later he received even more devastating news -- news no one wants to hear.  He was told that he had Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer.  The cancer progressed rapidly as his breathing decreased.  He fought, he wanted to try everything available, and he asked lots and lots of questions, at times never giving the staff a chance to respond.  Still fully aware with all his faculties minus breath, Sat passed away peacefully in the hospital on June 3rd surrounded by his family including his pride and joy, his 3 year old grandson.

Some have graciously asked for ways to help and to give support to the family.

With this very unexpected news, on behalf of their family this fund was created to help with the unexpected costs during his illness and funeral expenses.
