Sassafras the chihuahua is the best friend and beloved companion of a homeless gentleman in Western Mass. They go everywhere together, while her person lives in and out of tents and seasonal shelters. She provides companionship and unconditional love and even with her small size is tremendously grounding to her ‘Dad’, keeping him out of trouble, physically and mentally.

Since Sassy and her person have met each other he has been reinvigorated to fight his way out of homelessness and out of poverty. “I don’t care about me, but she needs a yard, she needs a couch to lounge on and I want to get that for her.”

After the closing down of his previous workplace, her person has been on the hunt for a new job for months and subsequently stable housing. In the meantime, Sassy needs preventative care and a fund for potential medical emergencies.

Sassy is coming up on needing her shots updated including her rabies, a general health exam, her teeth cleaned, and monthly heartworm preventative. He is also looking to have her microchipped, so that she can always make it back to him if separated.
