Sasha's Hospitalization Fund

Anyone who knows us knows that we don't like asking for money (or help, most of the time...), but Trent and I have found ourselves in need of some help with our sweet dog Sasha's medical expenses due to hospitalization.

Around 1 AM on October 26, Sasha woke up and vomited. I stayed up with her for several hours, trying to get her a little water and make her comfortable, but she couldn't keep anything down. At 5 AM she started vomiting blood, by which point Trent and I knew we needed to take her to the hospital. We took her to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Lewisville, the closest place that was currently accepting emergency patients.

Sasha is currently stable but has been uninterested in food, and has not been able to keep water down. She has had a couple of x-Rays, neither of which have shown stomach or intestinal blockage. The x-Rays do show that she has lots of swelling and gas in her GI tract. Her current diagnosis is gastroenterocolitis, either from something she ate or some kind of secondary infection. As of midday 10/27, she is still hospitalized and receiving IV fluids for hydration as well as nutrition and antibiotics. The vet is prepping to do a sonogram of her belly as well as a nasal feeding tube to alleviate the gas and swelling in her GI tract, which will hopefully inspire her to eat and decrease inflammation so that she can keep liquids and food down. She is currently due to be hospitalized for at least another 24 hours, and so far her care has cost us just over $4,700.

As pet owners, we have always been prepared to spend whatever we have to make sure our baby stays healthy. However, we are close to maxing out our credit card and don't have many other options should her costs increase. We are asking for $5,000 to cover at least part of the cost of her care up to this point, as well as the expenses that will stack up in the next 24 hours (and the portion of proceeds that GoFundMe keeps for itself.) As soon as we have a clear picture of what her care will cost us in total, we will cap this fundraiser and return any unused funds to donors.

We love Sasha more than anything, and anything you are able to give is so greatly appreciated. We just want our baby home and healthy.
