Sasha has cancer - Removal of mast cell tumour

Donation protected
For a few months our love Sasha has had this little pimple like bump on her forehead. It never caused her problems, and stayed a small size for a long time. On January 23rd, Sasha started suddenly vomiting, about 6 times within a few hours. She was lethargic and weak, when usually she's very happy to be around us and cuddly. Sasha wouldn't let me touch her, she would move away and groan with every adjustment. I noticed that each time she scratched her head, right where that pimple was, she'd start vomiting again. The pimple grew into a giant mass covering most of the left side of her face, and had been oozing from her scratching it, part of her vision was blocked. Sasha stopped eating, and laid down for a few hours, then suddenly got up like it was nothing and was acting normal again.

The day after we brought her to the vet, they checked her vitals and indicated she did have a fever the day before. They took a sample of the mass, and found something called a mast cell collection. The vet warned us that this is usually associated with cancer, and chances are this is a mast tumour. Results came back on January 29th, and unfortunately Sasha does indeed have cancer of the mast cells, also known as Mastocytoma.

Everybody has mast cells in their body, they're what help us fight against allergic reactions. Sasha is fighting some sort of allergic reaction, but the mast cells in her body she needs to fight the reaction, aren't distributing through her body correctly and collecting in a specific spot starting the tumour. Her body is now trying to fight the collection of cells that she needs to fight allergic reactions. She's been prescribed antihistamines, and anti-nausea medication so far to help bring the size of the tumour down for further biopsies. This tumour usually gets aggressive when made contact with, which explains the sudden vomiting and tiredness. Sadly regardless with this tumour removed, she will still have active cancer cells and there is a possibility it will manifest again in another spot.

Right now our course of action is to book a few more consultations, she will need a few more x-rays and samples taken from her lymph nodes, and ultimately proceed with a biopsy to remove the tumour. Estimated this will cost about a grand, not including the expenses I've already covered with her first lab test and round of medications. Sadly as a student, I don't have enough money to cover all of her upcoming bills.

It would mean everything to myself and my family who love this kitty to death like our own child, if anybody is able in any way to help out with the expenses of her treatment. Even just sharing the link helps out greatly. I will regularly update this forum with any information I get with her treatment.
