A few weeks ago, Sarita went to the doctor's office for some symptoms that resembled those of a stroke. Her biggest fear coming out of that office was that she might have had a ministroke and would have to take medication, but she never expected to be told that she had a brain tumor. The tumor, which was located on her thalamus, affected her speech, her ability to move, and gave her intolerable headaches which made it hard for her to carry on her daily tasks. She was admitted into the hospital to get it removed, and although the procedure went well, it was too large and could not be extracted completely.
Just when we thought the worst had occurred, the neurosurgeon told Sarita the biopsy results showed something a bit more troubling, and they would have to look into it further. A day later, Sarita was diagnosed with lymphoma; the news changed her usually bubbly personality into a somber one, but her love of life has helped her remain strong. Her recovery will not be easy, but it is feasible. At the moment she has no health insurance to cover the costs of chemotherapy, physical therapy, and all the medications she will need to take, which is why we ask you for any help you can offer, even a prayer will suffice. Hace unas semanas, Sarita fue al consultorio del médico por algunos síntomas que se parecían a los de un derrame cerebral. Su mayor temor a salir de esa oficina era que podría haber tenido un mini-ataque cerebral y que tendria que tomar medicación, pero nunca esperaba que le dijeran que tenía un tumor cerebral. El tumor, que estaba localizado en su tálamo, afectó su habla, su capacidad para moverse, y le dio dolores de cabeza intolerables que le hizo difícil llevar a cabo sus tareas diarias. Ella fue admitida en el hospital para quitar el tumor, y aunque el procedimiento salió bien, era demasiado grande y no podía extraerse completamente.
