Sari’s Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
My 4yr old daughter, Sari, suffered a terrible incident at home, something I wouldn’t wish for any mother to go through. On March 16th, 2020, she fell asleep on the floor in front of the TV, when it was time for bed like every toddler has done at one point and her twin sister stayed up and continued to play, when my husband I heard a loud bang. Her sister had somehow knocked the dresser with the TV on it over and it fell on top of her sister while she was peacefully sleeping. Never in my right state of mind did I imagine something so tragic happening to my daughter and nor is it her sisters fault, she’s just a baby and doesn’t know any better. Our daughter suffered a fractured skull and swelling in the brain along with severe trauma. Today we received good news! None of the major vessels in her neck that the doctors were worried about were damaged. She did have a tear in the neck where it connects to the spine but with the detailed procedure they performed on her today the doctors came to the agreement that they will not be doing surgery on it as they planned to and letting her tiny body heal on its own. We are still awaiting for her to wake up and be removed off of the breathing tubes, but with the contusion to her brain stem she will need a long process of healing. It’s already been determined she will need a neck brace for 3 months until her tear has healed and possibly a wheelchair to minimize mobility to the neck and spine while she heals. Until she is off breathing tubes they will also be able to determine if she will need cosmetic surgery as her front of her face was fractured by her nose and under eyes. Meanwhile we are trying to prepare everything for her, we are needing a little assistance as wheelchairs and everything she will need to help with her everyday activities is a little on the high price. She will also be having occupational, physical, and speech therapy to help get her back to the little active girl she was. If you haven’t already seen it, I wrote a detailed post of the nightmare we lived that night. Prayers have been so helpful in these past few days. What seemed to be the worst nightmare ever is slowly getting better day by day knowing she is still here with us. Thank you so much to everybody who has been praying and continuing to pray. She hasn’t opened her eyes yet but I know God is listening and he will work us a miracle! Every little bit helps for her journey to recovery.
