Sariah Brendeland and family
Donation protected
I met Sariah Brendeland several years ago when she started working for Edward Jones at a branch in Ames. She and her family are part of our Huxley community. Her daughter, Callie is a freshman at Ballard and has been through quite a bit in the last few years. She was hit by a car a few years back while on her bike and had to go through quite a bit of rehab due to a broken hip. Sadly, she has gone through some bullying and trouble with classmates and this last Thanksgiving, moved to Minnesota to attend a rehab facility for mental illness and substance abuse at the young age of 15. Sariah, lost her mom in December and then just recently got a call from the facility in MN that Callie was taken to the ER for lower back pain and loss of mobility. After several tests, they diagnosed Callie with having had a Spinal stroke. Callie will have to learn how to use her lower half all over again which could take months to years for her to recover. Once she is ready to be released from the hospital, she will be moved to a rehab facility. When they feel she is ready to be moved from there she could potentially come home. Again this could take months to even years for her to be ready to leave the rehab facility. Sariah is going to have to find some affordable housing in Minnesota while Callie is in the hospital and rehab, plus will be making trips back home at times as her husband and son will remain in Huxley. Please if you are able to donate at all, this would help not only with Callie’s medical bills, but with housing for Sariah and gas to go back and forth. If you’d like to do gas cards or anything tangible, please reach out to me and I can help get things to her.
