UPDATE 4/12: Sarge is a lot more mobile now! He had stopped fighting me on taking his meds and has finally had his first bit of solid food in the last 4 days (rotisserie chicken for the win).
UPDATE 4/10: The plasma infusion has helped Sarge regain strength. He was finally able to stand by himself without help or use of a sling. He still is overproducing urine which is likely from inflammation of his kidneys, so the vet is continuing to monitor him. We are so overwhelmed by the love, support, and prayers. Thank you all so much ❤️
Hi, my name is Alex. I am usually the one coordinating fundraisers for others and never in a million years did I think I’d be needing a fundraiser for myself. In 2019 I went through a tragedy and to help bring some light back to my life, I got Sarge. Sarge means the absolute world to me.
On Monday April 8th I took Sarge for a hike; something he loves to do. What started out as a wonderful adventure quickly turned into a nightmare. Sarge’s body began getting weak, and shutting down. He became nearly lifeless and I rushed him to the Emergency Vet. The vet believes he is experiencing anaphylaxis which can be caused by a bee sting. He is now on his 3 day at the EV, and is undergoing a plasma treatment since his platelet count was extremely low.
Sarge means the absolute world to me. He is only 3 years old and has so much life to live. My biggest fear is to have to put him down due to high medical bills.
I am not one to ask for help, but in this situation, I feel I have no other option. If you can help in any way please know that I will be eternally grateful.
