Sarcoma removal medical expenses and recovery

Hey everyone my name is Cayla. In 2020 I had this lump on my side that was hurting me during work so I left early to get it checked out in the emergency room. The doctor there decided that this was a lipoma and I needed to follow up with my pcp. The pcp reviewed the ultrasound and confirmed that the lump was indeed a lipoma and told me to “just watch it”.

Fast forward to February of 2023 the lipoma started to get bigger, hard and painful. I got a doctors appointment as soon as I could (a month later). The doctor sent me to an emergency general surgery consult. The general surgeon sent me to a stat Ultrasound that same day. When then ultrasound came back they determined that this was a “vascular mass” still likely a lipoma. The general surgeon then sent me for a STAT CT of my abdomen the next day. When the results from the CT came back he decided we needed to do a core biopsy under CT to really figure out what this thing was. The core biopsy results took weeks to come back, as “likely sarcoma but there isn’t enough tissue to determine” they transferred my care to a Henry ford main oncologist and she wanted to take the lump out for further biopsies.

I had surgery May 30th to remove my sarcoma and leave my skin with “positive margins” with this surgery I am supposed to take off some time from work, but unfortunately bills never stop.
